Looking back on the past four years, I can’t believe how much I’ve grown. Of course, we all came to college to learn, and in making my choice to attend Wittenberg, I knew I would learn what might have been missed elsewhere.
I think that one of the most important lessons we can learn from our college experiences is how to make connections. Witt, in particular, has proved to be one of the best places to make lasting connections. At Witt, I learned to be appreciative of the small, close-knit community that I have called home. Taking advantage of professor accessibility is something that I could not have done anywhere else.
Witt taught me that it’s not about where you are; it’s the people you’re with. The friends that I’ve made here have truly made me experience what it is. I’ve learned to never turn down a late night conversation and sacrifice sleep for a story that will be retold countless times. And while the friends we make may not be directly in our lives forever, I know that I’ve found people that when we do reunite, we will pick up as if we’ve never left.
Furthermore, Witt has taught me to make my time count. I have to admit that I’m excited to graduate and begin the next chapter of my life, but I could never wish my life away wishing for something to come. Why wouldn’t I want to enjoy my life at a point with just enough responsibility to keep me grounded, and a lot of freedom to explore? If my four years as an undergrad were to be the best of my life, I wanted to make them worthwhile.
