The aroma of doja lingers, just like warm pie out the oven.
“Saturday Night Car Tunes” is just what the doctor ordered. This last weekend, Curren$y dropped the EP out of the blue and announced on Twitter, “Imma drop an EP on that ass today……like f#&* it……”
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s completely free, so if you don’t pick this up, you’re foolish. Coming in fourth for the week on hotnewhiphop.com’s top mixtapes, Curren$y (aka Hot Spitta), destroys each and every beat like a hellfire missile. The seven-song tape features music artists Gun Play, Wiz Khalifa, Birdman, and Rich Boy. As Curren$y explains in the intro, “Some days it does rain in New Orleans, and we don’t ride in the rain because it’s disrespectful to the whips, but on those days, raps are read.”
Personally, my favorite song on the tape is “Night Like This,” which reminds me a lot of Big Krit’s “Money on the Floor.” I’m always impressed in who he decides to bring along for the ride; Rich Boy’s voice fits with the beat perfectly, and his Mississippi flow makes me want to drive slow through a warm summer evening. For those who are concerned about how hard the tape hits, 10 G’s remix will make your trunk slam. Spitta has done it again, and if you enjoyed this, make sure you try to keep your eyes open for “Pilot Talk III,” which should be coming this fall.
