Spring Athletes Take Their Talents Nationwide for Spring Break Competitions

As the spring season kicks off, Wittenberg’s athletic teams are packing their bags and hitting the road for a series of exciting competitions across the country. From Florida and Georgia all the way to Maryland, student-athletes are preparing to highlight their skills and represent the university in various sports, including baseball, softball, tennis, lacrosse, and golf. With big matchups and the chance to compete against top-tier teams, Wittenberg’s Spring sports teams are ready to make their mark on the national stage. Here is every spring sport and their plans for spring break competition. 

The baseball team is set to head to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for an exciting three-day stretch of competition, where they will play four games against a strong lineup of opponents. Facing off against Rhode Island College, Bridgewater State, Ursinus, and Manhattanville, the team will highlight their skills at the renowned Ripken Experience Event, promising an action-packed series in a premier baseball destination. 

The softball team is heading to the well-known Spring Games at the Diamondplex in Winter Haven, Florida, where they’ll face off in 10 thrilling matchups over the course of five days. Among the standout games on their schedule are exciting games with Belhaven, Suffolk, Carthage, and Beloit. It is set to be an action-packed week as the team competes against strong opponents. 

The men’s and women’s tennis teams are headed to Orlando, Florida, to compete at the world-renowned USTA National Campus, where they will face off in six thrilling matches each. The women’s team has some standout challenges ahead, including matchups against #32 Bethel and (RV) Ave Maria, while the men’s team will test their skills against top-ranked opponents, including #4 Case Western and #24 Ave Maria. It is shaping up to be an exciting and competitive stretch for both teams at one of the sport’s most well-known venues. 

The men’s and women’s lacrosse teams are gearing up for some exciting out-of-state matchups this spring break. The women’s team will travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina, to face off against Curry and Transylvania, while the men’s team heads to Baltimore, Maryland, for a showdown against Alfred. Both teams are ready for intense competition as they take on these formidable opponents in some thrilling out-of-town matchups.  

The men's golf team will travel to Pinehurst, North Carolina, to compete in the Tiger Invitational hosted by #16 Hampden-Sydney College, while the women's team heads to Statesboro, Georgia, for the South Georgia Invitational, hosted by Berry College. Both teams look for continued success and a good start to the spring season. 

With each team embarking on competitive trips across the country, from Myrtle Beach to Orlando, Wittenberg athletes are ready to face some of the best talent in their respective sports. These spring break matchups not only offer a chance to refine skills and build momentum but also to display the university’s athletic prowess. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Wittenberg as these student-athletes look to leave their mark on the field, court, and course.
