Jessica Flick ’24 is a woman’s lacrosse player from Lebanon, OH, who attended Lebanon HS.
Bailee Lyons: How long have you played?
Jessica Flick: 9 years.
BL: What got you started into playing?
JF: One of my good friends played lacrosse and wanted me to try it out, so I went to a practice and immediately fell in love with the sport!
BL: What is your major?
JF: Education.
BL: Are there any challenges with your major that may interfere with your sport?
JF: I student teach every day, so I am at the school from 8-4 on weekdays and must go straight to practice from teaching. While this has been a challenge, it has also been very rewarding by preparing me for my future career and extracurriculars that I may have after work. It also has benefitted me with time management: I must ensure that I am prepared every day for my workday and lacrosse afterwards.
BL: What are you involved in outside of sports?
JF: I am involved in the Class of ’24 Student Cabinet as both the Female Sports Representative and Student Involvement Chair.
BL: Who would you say is the team’s biggest rival?
JF: OWU (Ohio Wesleyan) or Denison.
BL: What’s your favorite part of Wittenberg?
JF: The community. Everywhere you go on campus, you are bound to see a friendly face which makes every moment enjoyable. The close-knit community helps build strong relationships with many others.
BL: What is your main goal as a player during your career at Witt?
JF: My main goal as a player is to leave an impact on others. Whether it be on or off the field, I hope to make a difference in someone’s life.
BL: If you did not play lacrosse, what would you play instead?
JF: If I did not choose to play lacrosse, I would probably want to have cheer in my life. I love flipping and jumping around and it used to be a big part of my life.
BL: What’s your pregame song?
JF: “Do My Thang” by Miley Cyrus!
BL: What is your pregame meal?
JF: CDR, baby!
BL: What’s your favorite part of practice?
JF: Warm-ups because it provides time to catch up with teammates about their day while also getting ready for practice.
BL: What is your favorite building on campus?
JF: Blair Hall and Koch Hall!
BL: If you had one word to describe the lacrosse team, what would it be?
JF: Entertaining and comical.
Thank you, Jessica!
