ChampsWittTigersThe regular season champs were able to navigate their way through the NCAC tournament bracket this weekend. With an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament now held, the Tigers will now travel to Juniata, Pennsylvania. The first round matchup pits the Tigers against Bluffton, who they did not play in the regular season. Bluffton was 19-12 on the regular season and won their way into the tournament after be crowned Heartland Athletic Conference Champions this past weekend.
However, looming on the other side of the bracket is number one seed Eagles, who handed the Tigers one of their two losses on the year. The Eagles are 31-2 and ranked by many as the nation’s top team. However, the earliest the teams could meet would be Saturday’s regional championships, if each of the two teams are able to beat their higher seeded opponents.151107_WVB All-NCAC_Blake Nelson017
Wittenberg dropped only a single set on the weekend, coming in their 3-1 championship victory over DePauw after dispatching both Hiram and Allegheny in three sets on Friday.
The weekend also saw Tigers win accolades, as senior Kara Seidenstricker took home Player of the Year honors in the NCAC. Seidenstricker was joined on the first team with junior Kendall Farmer. Senior Bryanna Jay collected second team honors. Coach Paco Laborder was also named the NCAC Coach of the Year.
