Jade Simpson ’24 went to holy cross high school in Latonia, KY and is from Edgewood, KY. Jade is an Exercise Science major.
Bailee Lyons: How long have you played?
Jade Simpson: I started playing basketball in the 3rd grade for an Upward Sport, a church league.
BL: What got you started into playing?
JS: My parents!
BL: Are there any challenges with your major that may interfere with your sport?
JS: Not really any challenges with my major.
BL: What are you involved in outside of sports?
JS: I am in a sorority called Gamma Phi Beta, I am in NSLS, Pre Health-Club, and I have two different on-campus jobs.
BL: Who would you say is the team’s biggest rival?
JS: DePauw and Ohio Wesleyan.
BL: What’s your favorite part of Witt?
JS: How close-knit the community is.
BL: What is your main goal as a player during your career at Witt?
JS: To win both the regular season and the conference championship.
BL: What is the biggest piece of advice a coach has given you?
JS: Remember to take it one day at a time and to emphasize the importance of focusing on the day in front of you, rather than feeling overwhelmed by long-term goals.
BL: If you did not play basketball, what would you play instead?
JS: Soccer!
BL: What is your pregame ritual?
JS: Getting my hair braided before every game.
BL: What’s your pregame song?
JS: “Solo” by Future.
BL: What is your pregame meal?
JS: Homemade chili.
BL: What’s your favorite part of practice?
JS: 5-minute scrimmages!
BL: What is your favorite building on campus?
JS: HWA.
BL: If you had one word to describe your team, what would it be?
JS: Two words: quirky and silly.
BL: What’s your plan after graduation?
JS: My plan after graduation is to take my 5th year to play basketball, apply for physical therapy school, and become a pediatric physical therapist or sports medicine physical therapist.
