“American Horror Story” presents an anthology of stories created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.
Each season is based on a set of characters and setting, with its own storyline that presents a beginning, middle, and end.
The first season was entitled “American Horror Story: Murder House.” It takes place in the year of 2011 and the storyline follows a family that moves into a house that is haunted by the former occupants.
Season one found a way to mash up a domestic martial drama including a murder house mythology.
In the second season, Murphy and Falchuk took on insanity, nuns, aliens, serial killers, and more.
“American Horror Story: Asylum” was the title of the season. This season took place in the year of 1964. The series follows inhabitants of an institution for the criminally insane.
Newcomers to the show are welcome to dive into season three, as a new season brings a whole new story.
Season three is entitled “American Horror Story: Coven.” The setting takes place in New Orleans in 1834, and follows witches and voodoo practitioners.
Like previous seasons, the Coven features flashbacks to another time period.
Kathy Bates plays the role of Madame LaLaurie, a scheming society woman who takes pleasure in dreaming up ways to torture her slaves.
The premiere of season three offers a little bit of everything the audience has come to love about American Horror Story. It set the stage for intriguing arcs.
Based on the first episode of season three, it seems as if the storyline is taking things slower with the horror. With the peephole camera style, “American Horror Story” tried to add some tension, but there isn’t any tension built up yet.
Coven exudes a completely different vibe than the past two seasons.
There isn’t a way to predict which direction this season will take but things will heat up.
