Rolling your pants can help conserve space.
If you plan on working out, bring a bag or gallon size Ziplock to keep your shoes from getting the rest of your clothes dirty. If you’re not going to have access to a washing machine, you should also bring an extra bag for dirty clothes.
Be practical about the amount of clothes you’re going to wear. Jeans can easily be worn twice. Try to condense shoes to three pairs: athletic shoes, closed toed shoes, and sandals or flip-flops. Wear shoes that are easy to slip out of to the airport to make security go faster.
Are you really going to wear that nice dress? Be realistic and only pack what you’re sure you’ll wear. That being said, don’t be afraid to pack extra underwear and socks. Lack of both can quickly make a vacation miserable.
Keep similar clothes together in your suitcase. This will minimize space and make organization easier.
Utilize the pocket space. You’d be surprised how much you can fit into the nooks and crannies of a suitcase. Just remember that if you’re checking a bag, it has to be under 50 pounds. If you can’t lift it, the bag is probably too heavy.
Wear your bulkiest jacket to the airport to maximize your suitcase space. Even if you don’t want to wear it, you can tie it around your waist or use it as a blanket.
Stuff as much as you can into your carry-on items. Remember that smaller bags, like purses, can easily fit into larger ones, such as backpacks. This is a great place to put extra clothes or toiletry items that couldn’t fit in your suitcase. Just remember that all liquids must be in a container that holds 3.4 ounces of liquid or less.
