Officers met with students regarding an assault that occurred at Ruby’s Pub. Due to the location of the incident, the Springfield Police Department also sent an officer for a report. A dean citation will be issued to the suspect for assault and Code of Conduct violations.
03/23/2014 @ 6:00 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on North Fountain Avenue to see a suspicious person rummaging through trash. The suspect was advised in reference to being on private property and sent on his way.
03/23/2014 @ 10:34 p.m.
Officers were in the area of Cliff Park and observed a suspicious person in the park after dark. The male was advised in reference to being in the park after hours and was issued with a criminal trespass warning.
03/25/2014 @ 9:18 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to the student center regarding a suspicious male identified as a former student. Workers informed officers that the former student had approached the service desk with a disturbing drawing and had asked them several disconcerting questions. Several other students advised officers of uncomfortable contact with the male, including a female who stated that she has been receiving unwanted and upsetting letters from the male. A criminal trespass warning was served to the suspect.

Officers took a property damage report in Tower Hall after an unknown suspect broke the glass from the fifth floor fire hose by throwing a can of beer through it.

Officers on patrol heard a loud crashing sound on the 600 block of North Fountain Avenue. The sign in front of the Madison Avenue Pharmacy was observed to have been knocked over with a suspect leaving the area. A dean citation was issued to the student and was advised that he would need to contact the pharmacy about the sign.

Officers were dispatched to Tower Hall regarding unidentified males yelling obscenities at students and pounding on doors. A foot pursuit ensued, ending in the capture of one suspect who was found to be on parole for prior burglary imprisonment. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, and a parole violation.

Springfield City Dispatch received a phase 2 911 hang up call that was traced to Park Place. The resident advised that the calls may have come from his cell phone and that his cell phone has been accidentally calling 911 for the past couple of days.
