Wittenberg’s very own Sigma chapter of the Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) fraternity won three awards at an international convention in Indianapolis this summer. With brothers from all over the United States and Canada, this was the first time in the last 10 years that Wittenberg’s Sigma chapter has won a first place trophy in any category.
The awards included one first place and two honorable mentions. The first place in the Condon Cup was presented to the most improved chapter, an award given among 150 chapters and 6,000 undergraduate brothers. Wittenberg’s Sigma chapter also won the honorable mention award in the Coon Plaque, for the best chapter newsletter, and the other honorable mention was for the Baker Cup, for best philanthropy.
With great accomplishments last year, the chapter feels encouraged and is working toward winning first place in the Coon Plaque and Baker Cup next year. Junior Matt Miley said, “the awards were result of the team effort put into everything, and it couldn’t have been done without the participation of each brother.”
