If you’re looking for some spooky fun after Halloween and would like to learn more about your campus, you’re in luck! The classes of 2016 and 2017 are working together on what is bound to be a fantastic evening with campus ghost tours. Kaitlyn Vazquez, president of the class of 2016, and Megan Bobbitt, president of the class of 2017, have come together with Linda Beals, director of Alumni Relations, to coordinate this event.
You may be wondering, what exactly is a ghost tour? It is a walking tour of our campus, led by Beals, complete with stops at all the “haunted” buildings and the ghost stories to go with each. The stops may include places like Myers Hall and the President’s house — as they have well-known haunted histories — along with several other places that don’t have such widely-spread stories.
These tours will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 4, with three rounds of tours planned at 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. To take the eerie tour, students will meet on the Krieg Hall lawn. While you wait for your tour to start, you can gather around a bonfire with your fellow students and enjoy hot chocolate, s’mores and other delightful fall treats to keep you toasty until you’re ready to go. If you aren’t already tempted enough by the creepy stories and tasty treats, keep in mind this event is free!
Vazquez and Bobbitt planned this evening together hoping to “gain more unity amongst classes,” Vazquez said. The intention behind this joint venture is to reach the entire university, with the expectation of appealing to both on- and off-campus students. Hopefully, with both junior and sophomore class representation, the tours will bring together those that have been at Witt for a while with those who are a little newer. Vazquez said the class cabinets want to “bring campus and classes together” – and it seems that these fun-filled ghost tours could do just that.
