9/17/2015 Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Woodlawn Avenue in reference to a vehicle that had been vandalized. The owner stated she went to Chakeres Theater around 1600 hours and parked her vehicle by the loading dock. She left the theater around 2215 hours, and noticed what appeared to be fruit smeared on the rear window. Photos were taken.
9/18/2015 Officers were dispatched to Firestine Hall in reference to a broken window. Officers met with Thomas Gerhard, who stated he attempted to close the window from the outside when it slammed shut and broke. Physical Plant was notified.
9/19/2015 Officers were dispatched to Ferncliff Hall in reference to several exit signs being ripped down on the second floor of the building. Officers collected photos and information for a report. No suspects were listed at the time of the report.
9/22/2015 Officers were dispatched to Keller Apartments in reference to a fire alarm. The resident said he was taking a shower and the smoke detector went off. Springfield Fire Department arrived on scene and reset the panel.
9/24/2015 Officers were dispatched to Keller Apartments in reference to a fire alarm. Once on scene, officers spoke to the resident, who stated that she put hot food on a plastic cutting board, which caused the alarm to activate. SFD arrived on scene, cleared the apartment and reset the alarm.
9/24/2015 While patrolling the campus, officers observed a grey Volkswagen Jetta traveling on Pythian Street at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle turned westbound onto Bill Edwards, it went left of center, nearly striking the curb. Officers had to stop their car to avoid being struck. Officers followed the car and stopped the vehicle at Bill Edwards Drive and Plum Street. The driver was identified as a non-student. The non-student had red glossy eyes, and his speech was somewhat slurred. He kept changing his story of where he was coming from. The non-student voluntarily submitted to a series of field sobriety tests and passed all tests. The non-student was cited for Reckless Operation ORD 333.09A and ordered into court.
