The Tiger defense impressed the homecoming crowd by pitching a shutout against the Wooster Fighting Scots in their 24 point victory. The defensive effort was lead by linebacker Dustin Holmes who notched a career high 16 tackles to go along with an interception. Senior defensive tackle Josh Bannick also added 10 tackles. On the other side of the ball the running back duo of Jimmy Dehnke and Sean Gary led the way for the Tigers. The two rushed for 142 yards combined on a day where the Tigers only gained 206 yards of total offense on the day. Next week, the Tigers will travel to New Castle in a conference match up with an undefeated DePauw team.
Men’s SoccerMenSoccer
The Allegheny Alligators delivered a 2-1 loss to the men’s soccer team on Saturday. The loss came in double overtime in a steady rain. The Tigers jumped out to lead when Robbie Russell found the back of the net in the sixtieth minute. The Tigers were not short on chances, amassing 12 shots on the day. The Tigers now enjoy a week of rest before traveling to Ohio Wesleyan.
FieldHockeyField Hockey
The Tigers lodged their third straight conference victory against Earlham. Sunday’s 5-2 victory makes the Tigers an even .500 on the year. Audrey Cooler led the effort with her second consecutive multi-goal game. The win brings them into a tie for fourth place in the conference. The Tigers will aim to break that tie on Wednesday when they take on Ohio Wesleyan at home in a critical game, as the NCAC teams continue to jockey for position.
Women’s Soccer
Two overtimes was not enough to decide a winner between Wittenberg and Allegheny this past Saturday. The two WomenSoccerteams battled to 1-1 tie. The Tigers fell behind the Gators after surrendering a first half goal. However, a second half equalizer off the foot of Michelle Brunswick brought the Tigers back. The Tigers boasted a stalwart defensive effort, allowing only seven shots. The Tigers travel to Ohio Wesleyan next Saturday, where they seek their first conference win of the year
MenCrossCountryCross Country
The Tigers finished tenth among Division III teams at this weekend’s all-Ohio meet, hosted by Cedarville. The Tigers again were led by Jon Osman on the men’s side, who finished thirtieth out of 279 runners. On the women’s side, the Tigers were led by Erin Hord, who finished sixty-fourth on Saturday. The Tigers run next on Oct. 16th.
Women’s Golfgolfgirls
The women’s golf squad continued its undefeated season, posting its eighth straight tournament victory at Eva Shorb Weiskopf  in Wooster, Ohio. The Tigers were led by the Maggie Smith, who had boasted a top round of 77. The Tigers will turn around on Saturday and play host at Springfield Country Club. The annual Pat Clouse Invitational will wrap up the team’s fall schedule.
