Although the two main entrances may be under construction in this chilly December month, the Clark County Public Library provides a cozy off-campus space to study for Wittenberg students.
Conveniently located right next to Un Mundo Café at 201 South Fountain Avenue, a short six-minute drive or 20-minute walk, the Clark County Public Library hosts a variety of books, documents and cozy spaces to study or read.
This location on South Fountain Ave. is the Public Library’s main branch. The Public Library also has four other locations, two in Enon and South Charleston and two in other nearby Springfield locations. One Springfield branch is located at 1119 North Bechtle Ave., and the second is located at 1123 Sunset Ave.
Although the temporary entrance to the building is cluttered and a little confusing, a shortcut to the left opens up to the expansive library. Right in the middle of the building is an information desk.
Around the desk are hosts of fiction novels, non-fiction novels and a place towards the right where students can look at government documents. Also sitting to the right of the information desk is a technology section filled with computers for individual use. The library hosts a teen section filled with young adult novels and a connected children’s section, typically filled with a class of children learning something new each week.
The interior of the building has a warm ivory color paint with dark wooden bookshelves. The library has quiet spaces for students who need to get work done in peace, computer sections, for anyone who might need to access the library’s database, and sections for meetings and for those who might need to get group work done.
Renovations began in the Clark County Public Library earlier this year. Currently, the two main entrances are under construction, but a temporary entrance is open in the back of the building.
During renovations, an update to the Gaier Room, a popular meeting room, will be completed in addition to the creation of more meeting spaces, a new technology training lab, new carpet and a replaced heating and air conditioning system, as well as relocated restrooms.
The Clark County Public Library is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. On Fridays, it is open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Saturdays, it is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. On Sundays, the library is closed. For other branch hours, students can go online to http://www.ccpl.lib.oh.us/hrsloc.
Students can also download an application for a Clark County Public Library card to check out nearly a million different titles that the library has available. The form is quick and easy to fill out, also giving students access to the library computers.
The Clark County Public Library provides the perfect place for students to gather in both a quiet and a good meeting place in an off-campus location. The warm environment indoors provides a perfect place to study and relax. And luckily for students, Un Mundo Café is right next door, providing a great opportunity to grab some delicious food before heading back to campus.
