This past Saturday, the Greek organizations of Alpha Delta Pi and Beta Theta Pi held its own version of Lollapilooza; which was a philanthropy event that featured local bands and artist performing for members of the Wittenberg community in Founders Pub.
LollaPilooza was a philanthropy concert where all proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities Inc. and the Alpha Delta Pi foundation. The concert featured two indie/alternative rock bands, Death Before Disco and Life Brother, as well as a rapper by the stage name of Exclusive. The event was originally scheduled to be held in Commencement Hollow, however, the threat of rain caused the event to be moved indoors to Founders Pub.
The event was kicked off by Death Before Disco, a local band from Dayton, performing eight different songs from both of its newly released albums. With its indie/alternative rock style, the band started the event off right by getting everyone involved and eager to have a great time.
Next up, it was the rapper known as Exclusive’s turn to share some of his original music with the audience that was made up of 75 members of Wittenberg’s student and faculty. The rapper behind the stage name was Wittenberg’s own Jonathan Butler, ’18, who was performing for the third time in front of his peers. For Exclusive’s first solo, he played many of his hit songs like “College Girls” and “Crusin,” that were well received by his peers.
“I think my performance went great. Overall, the event went well for everyone involved,” Butler said. “It was for a great cause and a great publicity opportunity for all the artists that performed.”
Finally, it was the headliner’s turn to put on a show for the audience with its alternative rock music. The band Life Brother, is from Cincinnati and is made up of a group of friends who realized that they loved music more than anything else and wanted to share that love with anyone who comes in contact with its music. That’s exactly what the band did this past Saturday by playing many of its favorite songs.
“Life is so good, I mean fudge, you guys are a great audience and we’re happy to be here,” Lance Adkins, lead singer, said.
Whether it was the music, the company or the fact that the proceeds will go to supporting people in need, there was something there that everyone could support. Not even the weather could stop LollaPilooza from being a great event for everyone involved.
