With midterms and the fast pace of the end of term approaching, students can find themselves pressed for relaxation time amidst the amount of assignments piling up. Local Game Cycle can provide an air of relaxation in an off-campus setting with various arcade games available to play, and aisles of retro video games to shop through.

Game Cycle, located at 1300 Saint Paris Pike, not only offers an arcade of retro games, but serves as a game store where one can purchase anything from video games to DVDs to CDs. With late hours until 9 p.m. Sunday through Monday and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Game Cycle can provide entertainment during any hour of the day, even during the midst of a school day, when students could truly use a break from studying or writing a paper.

The arcade and game store is crucial to students at Wittenberg due to its close proximity to campus, a mere five-minute drive, or 20-minute walk.

Game Cycle boasts a selection of retro-style arcade games, including the classics, Pac-Man and Tetris, as well as other machines, including The Simpsons themed and Super Mario Bros themed pinball machines.

This area of Game Cycle boasts a classic arcade feel, moving away from today’s arcades featuring more of a need for a winner with tickets for prizes. Game Cycle feels like a step back in time with its numerous machines and games, as well as its offering of video games for sale.

One of the highlights of the arcade is the claw machine, offering a wide variety of stuffed animals to those skilled enough to win.

Students will find themselves spending hours at Game Cycle, whether just admiring the feel of the store and arcade, to losing themselves within the games they will play. Students may even find games for their old Nintendo Gameboys, or their GameCube. There’s no telling what students may find within Game Cycle’s wide selection of offerings.

Game Cycle typically posts their newest offerings on their Facebook page, Game

Cycle Springfield Ohio, so students can stay up-to-date on what’s in the shop before making the trip over for the day.

To get the most enjoyment out of Game Cycle, students should block off a few hours, preferably on a weekend day, and immerse themselves in the arcade games available. Bringing a few friends, or a date, will make the experience all the more enjoyable. Make it a competition to see who can have the longest winning streak; it’ll be sure to take students’ minds off of their school worries.

Make sure to take some time off as one of the first parts of stress during the semester begins to hit: all students, and faculty, deserve an off-campus break playing arcade games.
