With graduation quickly approaching, Wittenberg University’s senior class spent the past weekend reminiscing about old times together and creating new memories at multiple senior-only events.

Friday night, the class of 2018 Student Senate officers organized a senior formal on the outside patio at Station One. The fun carried over to the following evening for a senior-only wine and cheese reception.

Both events were well received by several dozen members of the senior class, who were able to take time away from their midterm schedules to dress in formal attire, relax, have a few drinks and share some stories and laughs together. Many seniors took these events as an opportunity to get to know their graduating class a little better.

“The senior formal was a great way for us to hang out and chill with people from our class that we don’t know very well, while celebrating our senior year,” Maddy O’Malley, ‘18 and Student Senate vice president, said.

Other than drinking adult beverages while reminiscing about past memories on Wittenberg’s campus, Station One had something that everyone could enjoy.

“The environment at Station helped make the event so much fun,” Alex McCarty, ‘18, said. “I got to play darts and drink beer with some of the people I met when I stepped onto campus for the very first time.”

With very few events going on over Family Weekend, the class of 2018 held a senior wine and cheese reception Saturday evening. Seniors were encouraged to bring their family and invite a Wittenberg faculty or staff member to enjoy a drink and mingle with one anther.

For many seniors like D’Andre Hartwell, this event was what made Family Weekend a blast.

“There wasn’t much for our families to do this weekend, but the reception was definitely the highlight of the weekend,” Hartwell said. “It was awesome having my family meet my professors as well as my friend’s families.”

To attend the events, there was a price that students had to pay: the formal cost $5 and the senior wine and cheese reception cost $10 per guest. All of the money raised went to senior circle, which is a way for the senior class to raise money in order to give a gift of their choosing back to the University.
