It’s that time of year again! The Wittenberg Housing Lottery is coming up and here’s what you need to know.
What is the Housing Lottery?
The Housing Lottery allows for students to choose where they want to live for the next year. Priority goes by number of credits, and by proxy, seniority. The more credits you have, the more likely you are to receive your top choice of housing.
All undergraduate Wittenberg students are required to live in Wittenberg housing, unless you are have signed a release form or commute, so the lottery is important in letting you choose where you want to live.
How do I participate in the lottery?
Make sure there are no holds on your student accounts and take count of your credits as that affects your standing in the lottery. Then look for the dates on the housing timeline, under Residence Life on Wittenberg’s website, that correspond to what kind of housing you want.
When the Housing Lottery website goes live on March 6, you can create a profile and select your choices for housing and roommates.
How do I use the Housing Lottery website?
When the website goes live, you can make a housing group on the system that includes inviting the people you’d like to live with. Then you can pick out your top places for living. After that, you get a lottery number and the system will match you up based on priority, and the housing left available.
What if I want to keep my roommate, or not?
When you go to make your housing profile, simply invite them to your group. After they accept, you will be put through the lottery together. If you have no particular roommate in mind, no worries. Follow the second bullet point option (more info on the website), and you’ll be matched up randomly.
What if I live outside of the Residence Halls?
If you live, or want to live in the WittenBurb’s or apartments, you must use the housing lottery. If you live, or are going to live, in a Greek house, a non-Wittenberg residence or are an RA, you are exempt from participating in the housing lottery.
What if I don’t like the housing I received?
You can attend the Housing Swap, which takes place on April 20. If you and another party agree, you can change your housing. After that, all housing is final.
Questions?
Check out the posters around campus and attend an information session, happening all over the next two months. You can also visit the Housing Selection page on Wittenberg’s website for answers to the most commonly asked questions.
