Alma Mater and Alma Lux nominations are in for the class of 2019.
According to Angie Fairbanks, executive director of Student Development, “The Alma Mater and Alma Lux are selected on the basis of character and integrity, service to the community, concern for others and high level of scholarship representing standards of excellence on campus.”
There are five men and five women chosen from the class of 2019 for nomination, with the final representatives of Alma Mater and Alma Lux announced during the Honors Convocation on April 6.
Here are this year’s nominees:
Micaela Pohlabel
Pohlabel calls Shelby, Ohio home, and majors in psychology. She also has minors in women’s studies and dance. At Wittenberg, she is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, cheerleading, Delta Gamma (Vice President for Membership and Foundation), Emerging Leaders, Ivy Ring (Vice President), Omicron Delta Kappa (Treasurer), a Lead Orientation Assistant, Peer Mentor, Pick-n-Pen, Swing Dance Club, University Hearing Board, Student Development Board and the Wittenberg Student Dance Company.
Rachel Porrello
Porrello calls Lewis Center, Ohio home, and has a major in psychology and a minor in religion. At Wittenberg, she is an Admissions Tour Guide, a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Alpha Xi Delta (Vice President for Membership), Chi Alpha Sigma, Emerging Leaders, Latin Dance Club (Treasurer), Newman Club, Omicron Delta Kappa (Secretary), Psi Chi, an Orientation Assistant, a member of Outdoors Club, University Hearing Board, SI, Mortar Board and the Wittenberg Track and Cross Country team.
Morgan Siefert
Siefert is a sport management major from Xenia, Ohio. She is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Fuller Center for Housing, Gamma Phi Beta, an Orientation Assistant, Panhellenic Council, Student Athlete Advisory Council, Wittenberg Honors Program, Young Life, Mortar Board, Alpha Phi Omega, the Wittenberg Swim team and the Wittenberg Water Polo team.
Isabella Wagner
Wagner calls Hilliard, Ohio home. She has a major in biochemistry and a minor in neuroscience. Wagner is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Biochemistry Club, Kappa Delta, Panhellenic Council and the Wittenberg Field Hockey team.
Rachel Wallace
Wallace is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and she has double majors in political science and communications with a minor in African studies. She is an Admissions Tour Guide, a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Class Cabinet, Class Officer, Emerging Leaders, Gamma Phi Beta, Pick-n-Pen, Lambda Pi Eta, Student Leader Fellowship, CABLE, Police Advisory Committee and Student Senate (President).
Loie Greenwood
Greenwood is a marketing and psychology double major with a minor in communication from Gahanna, Ohio. He is an Admissions Tour Guide, a member of Athletes in Action, Emerging Leaders, Phi Kappa Psi (Vice President), Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Council Student Leader Fellowship and CABLE.
Clayton Marsh
Marsh calls Piqua, Ohio home and majors in German and Russian and Eurasian Studies with a minor in music. Marsh is a member of Emerging Leaders, Gamma Sigma Alpha, Interfraternity Council, Lambda Chi Alpha, Newman Club, an Orientation Assistant, Phi Eta Sigma, Pick-n-Pen, Mortar Board and the University Hearing Board.
Charles Rodeheffer
Rodeheffer is an exercise science major with a sport management minor from Delaware, Ohio. Rodeheffer is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (Vice President), Student Senate Athletic Senator, Delta Tau Delta, Outdoors Club, Dining Service Advisory Committee and the Wittenberg Track and Cross Country team.
Charles Samuel
Samuel calls Lihue, Hawaii home and is a biology major with a minor in neuroscience. He is a member of Beta Beta Beta, Delta Tau Delta (President and Secretary), Interfraternity Council (Vice President for Public Relations), Orientation Assistant, Peer Mentor, Phi Eta Sigma, a Resident Advisor, a member of the Security Advisory Committee, Student Athletic Advisory Council, Tigerthon, Young Life, Housing Advisory Committee, Fall and Spring Dance Concert and the Wittenberg Track and Cross Country team.
Justin Unternaher
Unternaher is a biochemistry major with a minor in music from Newark, Ohio. He is a member of Alpha Phi Omega, Bloom Africa, Emerging Leaders, Beta Theta Pi, an Orientation Assistant, Operation K, Phi Eta Sigma, Pre-Health Professions Club, Symphonic Band and Union Board.
