Emily Wadds is a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio and is a member of the Women’s Lacrosse team. She is double majoring in marketing and communications. In her future, she wants to work with a variety of people.

Wadds was introduced to the game of lacrosse in the second grade when a lacrosse program was established in her hometown. Her dad persuaded her to try out for the team and she fell in love with the sport. She is extremely thankful to play the game for 13 years. Wadds originally didn’t plan to be a collegiate athlete, but her parents encouraged her to continue playing in college.

By sure luck, she decided to choose Wittenberg after meeting the team and an overnight visit. Reflecting as as junior, Wadds cannot image her college experience without lacrosse; as an incoming freshman in 2015, she was terrified to play, her teammates have become her family.

This season, Wadds was selected as team captain along with Victoria Zysik, ‘18, and Sarah Farnsworth, ‘18. As team captains, their goals for this season are to motivate their team to push themselves by working hard every day.

Prior to the start to the season, Wittenberg was searching for a new head coach for the women’s lacrosse program. Wadds was a part of the hiring committee, along with other faculty and staff. She describes the hiring process as “crazy” from listening to the initial phone interviews, then having a say for the final candidates.

After selecting the final candidates, the entire team had an opportunity to meet the candidates and ask questions. The team is happy about the hiring of their new coach Margaret Wolford. She is bringing a lot of new things to the program.
