With the spring season winding down, four Wittenberg sport teams have concluded their seasons:
Men’s Lacrosse:
The lacrosse team finished 6-9 overall for the season, where they went 4-4 in conference games. Home turf was kind to the team as they went 3-1 and, as a team, averaged 39.2 shots per game and 11.07 goals per game. The Tigers had a total of 166 goals for the season with 85 assists. Before their loss against Aurora University at Wabash, the Tigers had two wins at home against The College of Wooster, 12-11, and Wabash University, 21-4.
Women’s Lacrosse:
The Tigers went 5-11 overall and 3-5 in conference as they took a total of three wins at Edwards-Maurer Field. The team averaged 10.75 goals per game and 26.1 shots per game. The season ended up with 172 goals and 67 assists. The Tigers ended their season with a home-turf win after they beat Ohio Wesleyan University 13-12.
Men’s Tennis:
The Tigers are 1-10 overall, going 1-4 at home and 0-4 in conference. Their current streak is seven continuous losses. There was a tournament set for the April 23 against Otterbein University that was supposed to be played at home, though it was postponed. Prior to that, the Tigers played against DePauw University, Wabash University and Ohio Northern University.
Women’s Tennis:
The women’s team concluded their season on Saturday, April 28 after a 5-0 win over the Allegheny Gators. Overall, the team went 6-9 this season, going 0-3 in conference. At home, the Tigers went 4-2 while going 0-5 away.
Softball:
As of now, the Tigers are 23-15 overall, as they took on the Hiram Terriers on April 28 at home due to issues at Hiram’s field. The team swept the Terriers 13-2 in both games, playing a total of 10 innings. The Tigers have played a total of 38 games, going 9-1 at home, with a whopping 237 runs and 23 homeruns. The team concluded their season on a win streak with 13 consecutive wins. The Tigers swept both Hiram College and the College of Wooster’s Fighting Scots all in one weekend. The double-header against Wooster rounded out the Softball team’s season with a total of 23 wins.

Baseball:
With three NCAC tournament games, a game against Ohio Northern University and two double-headers left this season, the Tigers still have plenty of baseball to play. On Senior Day, the Tigers played a double-header against Allegheny where they swept the Gators, 10-4 in the first game and 14-0 in the second. So far, the Tigers are 13-20 overall, 7-7 in conference and at home. In the 33 games they have played, the team has scored 205 runs and they have had 11 homeruns. There are eight games left this season for the Tigers so the season could go either way.
Men’s and Women’s Golf:
The Men’s Golf team came in first and the Women’s Golf team rests at second heading into the third and final round of the NCAC Championships. Depending on where the Tigers sit at the conclusion of the round, they will head into NCAA Championships that are being held in Greensboro, N.C. The Tigers concluded their regular season on April 22 after coming in first at the Strimer Memorial Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. That win launched the Tigers into tournament play where they are thriving.
Track and Field:
The Men’s and Women’s Track and Field team have had quite the busy schedule since December. This past weekend, the Tigers travelled to Denison University on Saturday, then had NCAC Multies at Oberlin College on Saturday and Sunday. At Denison, Witt had athletes place within the top five in 14 different events, including freshman, Alexis Johnson, who placed first in the Women’s Long-Jump. The Tigers have a Championship meet in May left to compete and their season is far from over.
