The strong smell of coffee assaults your nose as soon as you pull open the door of Un Mundo Café. In a good way, of course!
Located inside the Heritage Center, right across from the Courtyard Marriot in downtown Springfield, Un Mundo Café has been providing delicious, organic, and local drinks and foods to Springfield residents for the past couple of years.
I recently visited Un Mundo with a close friend, and we could immediately understand the hype surrounding the petite café. The view from the café boasts a beautiful mural from the side of the Marriott and a series of water fountains showcased with peak of season flowers.
Un Mundo works directly with local farmers to source its food. Each and every trade is fair; the café is determined to provide fair and direct trade with farmers. Un Mundo also partners with local businesses to sell their products, such as local singers’ new albums or a local business who makes kettle chips.
After you step foot into the café with its sweet smell of coffee, your eyes immediately catch the chalkboard menu right by the register. The menu boasts a variety of hot and cold drinks, which they serve no matter the season. The menu also boasts a signature list of eight different paninis, salads, wraps and sides.
For our midday brunch, I enjoyed a cup of creamy hot chocolate and a spinach and pepperoni quesadilla. My friend tried a ham and cheese panini with Un Mundo signature chips and pickle spear. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious.
We sat inside the small café and enjoyed our meals, finishing everything on our plates. Soft music filled the amphitheater of the room while we enjoyed our meal. We shared a spectacular view of the outdoor seating area and water fountains.
Looking around the café, a number of other patrons sat, either reading or typing on their computers. Un Mundo would serve the typical Wittenberg student well if he or she wanted to take a break from campus life and enjoy some truly delicious food while still working on homework.
Un Mundo Café is located at 117 South Fountain Avenue, a short four-minute drive or 22-minute walk, for those of us not blessed to have a car on campus.
Un Mundo is open from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. every Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sundays. These flexible hours leave Wittenberg students with an incredible option for a new place to hang out or study.
Students can follow and like Un Mundo Café on Instagram and Facebook.
They have constant events at the café and also host various social media competitions [that can win you free stuff!]
Each month, the café has a special discount. For September, anyone can cash in on 10 percent off of any shake.
Although the prices may be a little high, the quality of the food is irresistible.
For any study date, fun breakfast or lunch date, Un Mundo is the place to be. The atmosphere provided by this café makes the trek well worth the visit.
