There’s nothing college students love more than good, and cheap pizza, and Springfield’s very own Bada Bing! Pizzeria delivers on both promises.
Located at 40 N. Fountain Ave., Bada Bing has been serving quality artisan pizzas and craft beers since 2012. Bada Bing is conveniently located right next to Fair Trade Winds, a cute boutique featuring items and clothing made from recyclable items. And great for Witt students, Bada Bing is only a short four-minute drive from Wittenberg or an 18-minute walk.
When you open the front door of Bada Bing, the warm wood floors automatically appeal to the eye, inviting you to stay in and eat. If you want the full Bada Bing experience, you can’t grab your food to go; you have to dine in. Bada Bing also does not deliver, so you can only eat in or order your food to go. The restaurant has this unique charm amidst its busy personality that makes it an experience you can’t get anywhere else.
Bada Bing claims to have “the best beer in Ohio and the greatest pizza on the planet,” according to their website. Although I won’t be able to try any of their beers for another two years, I can speak on behalf of their pizzas. And man, are they delicious. Unlike most other pizza shops, you order your food at the counter [they recently installed a brand new counter top where you can leave cute messages] and then take a seat. Most items take less than 20 minutes to make.
My personal favorite is their signature garlic knots with lots of extra garlic butter on the side. My family and friends thoroughly enjoy their signature calzones and pizza. Bada Bing’s calzones are stuffed to the brim with cheese and fillings, and their pizza is saucy and cheesy. And for topping lovers, they’re not shy on how much they put on your pizza.
Bada Bing’s menu also features anything else you could imagine a pizza shop: salads, wings, grinders [another word for a sub, which I just learned] and desserts. I have yet to try their cinnamon knots, but they will definitely taste amazing, I am sure of that.
Although Bada Bing can be quite noisy at times, if you go in the early afternoon, the restaurant can provide the perfect atmosphere to study or do homework. Bada Bing is also perfect for close-to-campus date nights. Bada Bing features a relatively cheap menu, and Wittenberg students can also receive a discount if you show your I.D. while ordering.
Another cool thing about Bada Bing is that you will probably see a host of familiar faces when you eat in, as most of Bada Bing’s staff consists of Wittenberg students.
Students can like Bada Bing! Pizzeria on Facebook and stay up to date with the latest Bada Bing news.
Bada Bing is open 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. every Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. every Friday and Saturday, and 3 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Sunday’s.
There’s quite a lot about Springfield’s Bada Bing! Pizzeria that is to like. Although I’m sure a lot of students have already been to Bada Bing, I would consider them one of Springfield’s best hidden gems. Bada Bing is definitely a place you have to eat at before you leave Wittenberg.
