9/14/16 Officers were contacted by a student in reference to some unauthorized transactions on her credit card. The charges included uses at Walmart and the vending machines in Hollenbeck Hall. No suspects were listed at the time of this report. This incident is under investigation.
9/16/16 Officers were conducting a residence hall check at Ferncliff Hall and observed a damaged exit sign hanging from the ceiling in the third floor hallway. Officers were unable to locate any latent prints on the sign. A work order was completed. There are no known suspects at the time of the report.
9/16/16 Officers were dispatched to the Student Center in reference to an active fire. Officers arrived on scene and observed a small flame and smoke emanating from a light fixture in the CDR. Officers then activated the pull station and cleared the building. The Springfield Fire Division arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be a small ball that had become lodged in a light fixture. No suspects were listed in the report. The CDR remained closed for the remainder of the night.
9/17/16 Officers were dispatched to West College Avenue and North Fountain Avenue in reference to a male passed out on the lawn. Officers arrived on scene and identified the male as a non-student. The non-student was intoxicated. The non-student advised that he was staying with a current student. He was transported to her residence.
9/17/16 While on patrol, officers observed a white Pontiac Grand Prix parked at the entrance to Veterans Park on the south tree line. As officers approached the vehicle, they could smell a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The driver was identified as a student and the passenger was identified as a non-student. The student stated that they had just “smoked a bowl.” Officers checked the vehicle and found a multi colored paraphernalia pipe with marijuana residue and clear bag with a small amount of marijuana inside of it. Officers issued the non-student a criminal trespass letter and sent her from the area. This incident has been referred to Student Development for review.
