03/31/2017 Officers responded to Wittenberg Police Division HQ in reference to a theft from Hollenbeck Hall. A student stated that his Acer laptop computer power cord was last seen in his room on 3/10/2017 and has since disappeared.
04/01/2017 While on patrol, officers discovered a 2011 Jeep Wrangler parked in front of a West Cassilly Street address had been egged. Officers were unable to contact the owner.
04/01/2017 While on patrol, officers discovered a blue Volkswagen parked along the curb of West Ward and West Woodlawn Avenue had been egged. A student stated that she last saw her vehicle on 3/31/17 and at that time, it had not been struck by eggs. Photos and a written statement were taken and attached to the report.
04/01/2017 While on patrol, officers discovered a silver Honda Accord parked in the 500 blk. of North Wittenberg Avenue had been egged. Officers were unable to contact the owner.
04/01/2017 Officers were dispatched to Firestine Hall regarding a fire alarm. Officers checked the third floor and discovered a fire extinguisher had been discharged in the hallway between rooms 312 and 313. Personnel from the Fire Division responded and the alarm was reset.
04/01/2017 Officers were dispatched to Sprecher Apartments regarding a fire alarm. Officers knocked at the door where the alarm originated from and did not get a response. Officers keyed into the apartment and were met with an odor of burnt marijuana. No one was inside the residence. Truck 4 of the Springfield Fire Department arrived and checked the apartment. The alarm reset without issue. All of the residents were referred to the Student Development for follow up.
04/01/2017 While on patrol, officers found a broken window on the north side of a house on Woodlawn Avenue. The resident stated that the window has been broken for over a week and does not know how it happened. Physical Plant was contacted and secured the window.
04/02/2017 Officers were dispatched to Thomas Library for a fire alarm. The fire alarm and numerous other alarms had activated in the building and then reset within a minute of activation. Officers checked the fire panel and the main alarm panel and both checked out okay.
04/02/2017 Officers were dispatched to the Student Center for a fire alarm. The fire alarm and numerous other alarms had activated in the building and then reset within a minute of activation. Officers checked the fire panel and the main alarm panel and both checked out okay. Officers spoke with the student worker at the front desk who advised nothing had activated in the building.
04/02/2017 Officers were dispatched to Sprecher Lot in reference to a theft from a vehicle. The owner stated that she parked her white 1998 Honda Civic in the Sprecher Lot on 04/02/2017 and noticed the vehicle had been entered later on that day. The student said she was missing her radio and a few miscellaneous items from her trunk. It appeared that the driver’s door was the point of entry. Officers lifted fingerprints from the driver-side window.
04/03/2017 Officers were dispatched to West College in reference to a broken window. The resident stated that on 04/01/17, he and some friends were playing soccer in the back yard and he kicked the ball, striking an exterior porch window, causing it to break. Physical Plant has been notified of the damage.
04/03/2017 Officers were dispatched to Park Place in reference to a broken window. The resident stated that as he opened the window, the windowsill gave way and separated from the wall. The area around the windowsill had rotted through. Physical Plant was notified.
