Wittenberg’s student-run arts and literature publication, the Wittenberg Review of Literature and Art, is hoping to bounce back after last year’s issue did not get published.
The Wittenberg Review of Literature and Art features student work in the concentrations of creative writing and visual arts. Any student can submit, go through a review process and have their work published in a book.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances on the Wittenberg Review staff, it was not able to be published last year,” Reese Harper, ’20 and president, said. “We are very sorry for the inconvenience.”
Although the Wittenberg Review did not get published last year, Harper, along with both the Wittenberg Review staff and Spectrum staff, are working hard to get the publication up and running once more. However, students who submitted to the spring’s publication have an option to bypass the review process and go straight into publication.
“If you submitted last year and you still want to be published in this year’s edition, send a copy of any of the works submitted with your name to me,” Harper said. “I will automatically publish anyone who submitted last year in this year’s edition. Only these works will bypass the review process and be automatically published.”
To make up for lost time, submissions will begin to be accepted later this semester, months earlier than is typical of the Wittenberg Review.
“We are definitely getting the book published this year because we really need to revive this organization and because we really need more arts organizations on campus,” Harper said.
For anyone that did not submit to the Wittenberg Review last year, but would like to submit for this year’s edition, regular submissions will open later this semester.
Students are also welcome to attend a joint Wittenberg Review and Spectrum meeting on Sept. 27 from 8-9 p.m. in the Li Room to get an idea of what both organizations do, the groups’ publications processes and as a way of adding new officials to the Wittenberg Review.
Anyone with other questions and copies of previous submissions can contact Harper at harpert@wittenberg.edu.
