Classes for the fall semester are now in full swing, so Wittenberg’s fraternities and sororities have started recruiting new members. All throughout campus, there are a variety of posters as well as personal emails about rush events that are occurring over the next two weeks.

Over the past week Delta Sigma Phi hosted Kiddie Pool Kickball on Sept. 11, taking place between New Hall and the Student Center. Beta Theta Pi invited potential new members to go to a paint balling event on Sept. 17.

The ladies of Sigma Kappa hosted a movie night on Sept. 18. The ladies of Alpha Delta Pi hosted a yoga event entitled, “Nama’Slay” on Sept. 19.

Events such as these allow students to socialize and interact with all members of Wittenberg’s Greek Life. Although many students may be interested in Greek Life, fall rush events are only open to returning sophomores, juniors and seniors. However, first-year students are encouraged to attend events so that they can start making decisions in regards to which fraternity or sorority is the best fit for them.

In order to rush in the fall, returning students need to have a 2.50 cumulative GPA to be eligible, which are the same requirements for first-years rushing in the spring.

Most events are open, although there are a few events that are invite-only. The last event for all fraternities and sororities is a preference dinner. Bid day will take place on Sept. 24.
