We are back. We apologize for our absence, we missed you all so much.

During our time apart my Blonde Bestie and I had quite the adventures. We wanted to take the time to talk about something that is near and dear to our hearts. Now before I say what it is, I want you to take a step back and think about a couple of things. First, we are a small school and everyone and anyone is involved. Secondly, because we are a small school the things we have are much different than clubs and organizations at a big school. So now that we have interested you here is the topic: Greek Life. Take this moment to laugh because we all know the stereotypes, but as people involved in these organizations, it is much different. Look around you, you will see so many people who have found their niches in clubs, sports, arts, academics and even Greek life. Now you’re probably thinking, your column title literally says “Blonde Diaries,” you are the cliche of Greek life. But we are here to give you the culture shock of no, we are the opposite.

We are fully aware that the first thing you think about when you hear sorority is the big, white doors flying open and millions of girls screaming some sorority chant. It is the image of a nightmare. We can assure you that this is not the case at our beloved Wittenberg. Wittenberg students are very well-rounded, and so is our Greek Life. Every Greek organization on this campus is filled with awesome people who are there to support and contribute to the betterment of our campus community.

We could go on and on about how we “found our home” in Greek life but you would stop reading it and call it bull crap and we would agree and support your decision. So we are not going to do that. We are, however, going to tell all of you freshmen (thanks for reading our post): this is an awesome opportunity to get out of the high school clique you’ve created here and befriend some amazing people you never thought you would meet. Every sorority and fraternity has their stereotype but honestly, not one of the organizations on this campus actually lives up to their given mold.

So, open up that book, you might just find some really amazing people behind that cover. I know you may be thinking, I never thought I would be Greek, or you may have other negative thoughts (be honest, a lot of us do). We are not implying that being Greek is the end all be all, but we are implying that going through recruitment gives you opportunities to meet people you didn’t know were on campus, so even if you don’t end up joining one of these organizations, going through recruitment will only open more doors to you. So ladies and gents, go home for Christmas break, invest in some classy outfits and come back ready to step past the stereotypes and meet some amazing people. Registration for formal recruitment is now open and we would love to see your faces in January. No matter where you find your place, whether it be sports, other clubs, academics, or within Greek life, we urge you to come and have fun with us at recruitment! We promise it won’t be a waste of time.

Go sign up.

With love,

Your Dirty Blondes
